HON. STEPHENSON KING CREDITS AN INCREASE IN EMPLOYMENT TO THE POLICIES OF THE ADMINISTRATION.

Minister for Infrastructure, Ports, Energy, and Labour, Hon. Stephenson King commented recently on a recorded decrease in unemployment in the last quarter.

The minister credited the unemployment decrease to the administration’s policies, and government’s support of new innovations.

“As the Minister for Labour, I am heartened by the reduction in unemployment over the last quarter,” he said. “Official statistics record overall unemployment declined to 16.2 percent from 23 percent, while youth unemployment saw a sharp reduction from 41 percent to 36 percent. This is only the start.”

He continued: “These latest achievements are the direct result of the policies of this administration. As a government we are not satisfied. We want to put more people to work, this is why we will continue to support innovations like Ojo Labs and others who have employed a significant number of youth in recent months.”

Planned construction projects, the minister added, will further reduce unemployment.

“With construction activity poised to boom in the coming months, we expect more people to gain jobs, further reducing the unemployment figures,” he said. “We are working and the results continue to show.”
