Children aged one to sixteen enjoyed a vibrant day of entertainment, festive treats, and gift-giving, highlighted by a special appearance from Santa Claus.

The Ministry of Equity, Social Justice and  Empowerment, in collaboration with the Salvation Army, KFC, and Blazing FM, hosted its annual Christmas Toy Drive at Serenity Park, extending holiday cheer to more than 400 children from communities across Saint Lucia. This year marks the fifth anniversary of the initiative, which began in 2020.

Children aged one to sixteen enjoyed a vibrant day of entertainment, festive treats, and gift-giving, highlighted by a special appearance from Santa Claus. Attendees were selected through the Ministry’s island-wide network to ensure broad participation from communities, including Micoud, Dennery, Laborie, Anse la Raye, Vieux Fort, Soufrière, Babonneau, and Gros Islet.

The atmosphere at Serenity Park was filled with joy as children explored play zones, posed for photos with Santa, and excitedly opened their presents. One young participant summed up the experience with excitement: Today was the best day, let’s do it again!”

Deputy Director of the Welfare Unit, Jahn McFarlane, expressed gratitude to all partners who contributed to the event's success. “We are grateful to all our collaborators who helped bring joy to so many children,” he said. The Ministry also extended appreciation to parents who served as supervisors, volunteers, and transportation partners.

General Manager of Real Foods Inc. – KFC Saint Lucia, Ottis Effs, reflected on the longstanding partnership. “This initiative is truly close to our hearts. Seeing the smiles on the children’s faces reminds us why we started this drive five years ago. It’s not just about the gifts—it’s about creating memories, spreading joy, and giving back to the community that has given so much to us.”

Welfare Officer for Gros Islet, Valene Isidore, also praised the continued collaboration. “I am delighted to once again partner with the Salvation Army and KFC for the fourth year. The joy on the children’s faces is truly heartwarming, and I sincerely appreciate their continued commitment to this annual drive.”

This year’s event once again highlighted the strength and impact of corporate and community partnerships in supporting vulnerable families and uplifting children across the island.
