The Department of the Public Service held the first formal Minister of the Public Service Top Performer Awards Ceremony at the Financial Administrative Centre, on Saturday, Aug. 3, under the theme "Public Sector Modernization: Repositioning and Rebranding the Public Service to improve Service Delivery."

The Top Performer Awards is an initiative of the Minister of the Public Service, Honorable Dr. Virginia Albert-Poyotte, to rebrand and reposition the Public Service. The awards program recognizes public officers for their commitment, dedication to their work, and for providing exemplary public services to citizens to further motivate and inspire other officers.

The Top Performer Award was held for the first-time in 2023 during the Public Service Fair which was held on the Derek Walcott Square. Mrs. Lyra Thomas-Joseph, Chief Complaints Officer, Ministry of Commerce won the Minister’s Award.

This year, 18 agencies submitted the names of the Top Performers within their respective agencies. All submissions were thoroughly reviewed by an independent committee comprising of professionals who deliberated and selected the Top Performer for 2024.

The Top Performers from the agencies attended the Awards Ceremony accompanied by representatives of their agencies, as well as other government officials including the Deputy Governor General, Mr. Felix Finisterre, Prime Minister, Honourable Phillip J. Pierre, Honourable Dr. Virginia Albert-Poyotte, Minister of the Public Service, Labour and Gender Affairs, other Cabinet ministers, and the Cabinet Secretary.

Each Top Performer was presented with a plaque, as a token of appreciation by the Permanent Secretary of the Department of the Public Service, Ms. Janet Barnard; and a special gift by their Ministers or Heads of Department.

The Awards Ceremony concluded with Prime Minister, Honourable Phillip J. Pierre revealing the name of the Top Performer for 2024.

The Department of the Public Service is pleased to announce that Mr. Urian Serieux, from the Electoral Department was selected as the Minister of the Public Service Top Performer for 2024.

The Top Performer was awarded the following prizes:

• A Tablet from Computer World
• Gift Certificate from Colombian Emeralds
• Spa Treatment from Blue Lotus
• An all- inclusive weekend for 2 at Jade Mountain
• A cheque for $1000 USD
