The May 6 event is headlined by the Derek Yarde Project, DYP with appearances by Teddyson John, De Invader and Secret band

The Monchy Development Committee, organizers of
Monchy Jazz dubbed ‘
Mizik en Kweyol,’ is again gearing up to participate and add diversity to the stellar lineup of the 2014 Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival.
With a keen desire to stimulate local economic development in the community of Monchy, ‘Mizik en Kweyol’ was conceptualized in 2012 with the aim of promoting local artistes while facilitating the participation of indigenous musical ensembles during the world renowned festival.
This year, consistent with the theme, organizers of the event intend to further diversify their product offering by placing emphasis on creating and promoting synergies between local arts & crafts and indigenous music. To this end, local art & craft vendors, in addition to the traditional food vendors, will be engaged to display their products and talents.
Scheduled for May 6, the 2014 ‘Mizik en Kweyol’ is headlined by the Derek Yarde Project (DYP) and will also include multiple calypso monarch De Invader, and versatile artiste Teddyson John.
Also on for this year are popular folk group Secret Band, Caribbean Metals Pantime Steel Orchestra, Trish, the Royal St. Lucia Police Band, and Avot Service.
Monchy Jazz is one of several community jazz events endorsed by the Saint Lucia Tourist Board, organizers of the Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival.
Other fringe jazz activities include Jazz in the South, Fond d'Or Jazz, Teatime Jazz at La Place Carenage, Soufriere Jazz, Jazzy Vybez at the Marina Village and Jazz on the Grill.
