TEN FINALISTS WERE CHOSEN FROM THE PRELIMINARY ROUND. THE EMERGING WINNER WILL REPRESENT SAINT LUCIA AT THE CTO YOUTH CONGRESS IN SEPTEMBER.

The Ministry of Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture and Information held the 2024 National Tourism Public Speaking Competition on May 9, at the Harbor Club Hotel.

The competition served as a platform for students to demonstrate their understanding of Saint Lucia's multifaceted tourism sector and present innovative ideas for enhancing the island's tourism product.  Moreover, the competition fostered a culture of research, critical thinking and public speaking skills among the youth.

Ten finalists were chosen from the preliminary round, where students were required to submit a two-minute video depicting "What Makes Me a True Saint Lucian". The participating schools are the Leon Hess Secondary School, Clendon Mason Memorial School, Castries Comprehensive Secondary School, Corinth Secondary School, Sir Ira Simmons Secondary School, Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School, Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School and St. Joseph’s Convent.

The Ministry of Tourism issues a call to the public to tune into the rebroadcast of competition as a show of support for this important initiative.  The emerging winner will represent Saint Lucia at the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) Youth Congress in September in the Cayman Islands.
