YOUTH EMPOWERED AND ALIVE HELPS PARTICIPANTS DEVELOP POSITIVE BEHAVIORS AND SKILLS THAT WILL PROPEL FUTURE SUCCESSES.
The Drug Education and Counseling Services unit, in collaboration with the Probation and Parole Services unit under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Crime Prevention, and Persons with Disabilities, have recently launched a program called Youth Empowered and Alive (YEA), that aims to boost personal growth and development among young people through the provision of safe and supportive environments for socialization and skill-building.
The program is designed to address critical issues such as anti-social behavior while promoting healthy life choices. Through meaningful activities and insightful discussions, young participants are encouraged to develop positive behaviors and skills that will support their future success.
The Drug Education and Counseling Services unit is calling on dedicated volunteers to support this mission and make a lasting impact on the lives of young individuals. Volunteers will assist experienced counselors in facilitating group activities, provide encouragement and mentorship, share life experiences to inspire and uplift, and help create a positive and empowering environment for the youth.
The program welcomes individuals who have a passion for youth development. While mentoring or counseling experience is beneficial, it is not a requirement. DECS strongly encourages community-minded citizens and members of religious organizations to step forward and get involved.
Sessions are held every Saturday for an hour and a half in Castries. The accessible location provides a convenient meeting point for volunteers and participants alike, fostering a sense of community and connection.
By volunteering, individuals have the chance to make a tangible difference in the lives of Saint Lucian youth.
