No intoxicating liquor shall be sold, offered for sale, supplied or given away, between the opening and the closing of the poll on polling day.
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) would like to remind the general public that no intoxicating liquor should be sold or supplied on polling day.
According to section 72 of the Elections Act 2008: “no intoxicating liquor shall be sold, offered for sale, supplied or given away, at any premises situate in any electoral district in which an election is being held, to which a license issued under the Liquor License Act, or under the Registration of Proprietary Clubs Act or under any other enactment applies, at any time between the opening and the closing of the poll on polling day."
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force urges the citizenry to adhere to this law as any person who contravenes section 72 shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine of $500 or to imprisonment for 6 months.
The polls will be opened at 6:30 a.m. and closed at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 6.
Meanwhile, leave has been cancelled for all police officers from 6 p.m. Sunday, June 5, until 8 a.m. Tuesday, June 7.
