The Ministry of Health and Wellness informs the citizens of Saint Lucia of the eruption of the La Soufriere Volanco in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The proximity of the two countries, presents the potential for negative impacts particularly to the south and south western sections of Saint Lucia. During a volcanic eruption, gases such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and sulphur dioxide, combined with water vapor in the atmosphere to form Sulphurous and Sulphuric Acid which can form a toxic mixture compromising that the air quality which when inhaled can be harmful to humans and animals.
