Prime Minister Meets Cuba's Fidel Castro

Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony was received and welcomed by former President of the Republic of Cuba, Fidel Castro, when he attended the Second Summit of CELAC, in Havana earlier this week.
 
During the exchange, the two leaders spoke of the historic and treasured relationship the two countries have shared as well as other important matters on the international agenda.
 
Prime Minister Anthony expressed his gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Cuba for its continued support in developing the human resource of Saint Lucia. The Saint Lucian leader thanked Cuba for its friendship and commitment to sharing its expertise with the people of Saint Lucia and the rest of the Caribbean.
 
Over the years, thousands of nurses, doctors, engineers and other professionals from the Caribbean have been trained through of scholarships offered by the Republic of Cuba. The Government of the Republic of Cuba continues to collaborate with Saint Lucia to transfer knowledge and best practices through scholarships, technical assistance and exchange programs in health, agriculture, sports and education.
 
The meeting between Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony and President Fidel Castro has been described in the Cuban media as “an expression of the historic relations between Cuba and Saint Lucia, characterized by an invariable spirit of collaboration and solidarity between our Governments and Peoples.”
