HON. PHILIP J. PIERRE RECEIVED A MILITARY HONOR GUARD WELCOME.
Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Hon. Philip J. Pierre, arrived in Taiwan on Nov. 28 for his first official state visit as Prime Minister.
On arrival, Prime Minister Pierre and his delegation were received by Foreign Minister Wu. The party received a military honor guard welcome, and attended a state banquet hosted by President of the Republic of China, Tsai Ing-wen. The delegation will have the opportunity, over the next five days, to interface with their counterparts.
“I have the honor to attend my first state visit to Taiwan,” Prime Minister Pierre said. “My delegation and I were warmly welcomed by Foreign Minister Wu, after which we attended a meeting with officials from the EXIM Bank which is critical in providing budgetary support for our people-centered development.”
Minister Wu said: “It is a pleasure to welcome Saint Lucia’s Prime Minister Hon. Philip J. Pierre. We’re delighted to host good friends from our Caribbean ally, and we thank them for supporting Taiwan. I wish you and your delegation a fruitful visit, and I look forward to deepening cooperation for the benefit of our peoples.”
