Prominent Saint Lucian Professor Dr. Cato Laurencin visits to inspire Saint Lucians

Prominent Saint Lucian, Professor Dr. Cato Laurencin, of the University of Connecticut (UCONN), will be hosted by the Ministry of External Affairs, International Trade, Civil Aviation and Diaspora Affairs during this coming week.

Professor Dr. Cato Laurencin, the recipient of a Saint Lucia Medal of Honor (Gold) for Independence 2022, is world-renowned for his work in regenerative engineering, biomaterials, stem cell science, nano-technology and drug delivery systems. He is also the recipient of many other prestigious awards for work in the field of bio-engineering. While here, he will engage Officials of the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health, St. Jude Hospital, the Saint Lucia Olympic Committee and the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC), all in an effort to explore possible collaborative undertakings between himself and UCONN and the Government of Saint Lucia and other institutions here.

During his stay Dr. Laurencin will be presenting copies of his autobiography to secondary school students as he believes that knowledge of his life journey could be an inspiration to all of our aspiring youth.

Dr. Cato Laurencin is one such Saint Lucian among many more, who will be invited to return home, to connect and be part of our Country’s development thrust.
