Today with great honor and enthusiasm the WISC celebrates the remarkable occasion of International Women's Day under the inspiring theme of 2024: "Inspire Inclusion." This year's theme challenges us to reflect on the progress we have made in fostering a more inclusive environment for women in sports and the continued work to be done. It encourages us to acknowledge the strides we have taken while urging us to persist in breaking down barriers that hinder the full participation of women in the world of sports.

Inclusion is not just a buzzword; it is a commitment to recognizing and embracing the diverse talents, abilities, and contributions of women in all aspects of sports. It goes beyond mere representation; it involves creating an environment where every woman, regardless of her background, feels valued, respected, and empowered to pursue her athletic dreams. As we celebrate International Women's Day, let us take a moment to appreciate the trailblazing women who have paved the way for the current generation of athletes, officials, coaches, and administrators.

Saint Lucia has a rich history of talented female athletes, officials & administrators who have excelled in various sports. Today, we celebrate their achievements and acknowledge the impact they have had on inspiring inclusion. However, our work is far from over. We must continue to advocate for equal opportunities, fair representation, and the dismantling of stereotypes that persist in the sports arena. Females who have dedicated and devoted their time and lives to sports and sporting organizations must be recognized and encouraged for their contributions.

To truly inspire inclusion, we must foster an environment where every girl and woman feels welcomed, regardless of her background, ability, or circumstances. We must ensure that sports organizations, both locally and internationally, prioritize gender equality and actively work towards creating a level playing field.

Let us commit ourselves to the cause of inclusion, not just today but every day.
