Saint Lucia prepares for active Atlantic hurricane season

THE NOAA HAS RELEASED A LIST OF 21 NAMED STORMS FOR 2025.

The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) wishes to advise the public that the 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season will run from June 1 to November 30, 2025.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has released its list of 21 named tropical cyclones for the 2025 season: Andrea, Barry, Chantal, Dexter, Erin, Fernand, Gabrielle, Humberto, Imelda, Jerry, Karen, Lorenzo, Melissa, Nestor, Olga, Pablo, Rebekah, Sebastien, Tanya, Van, and Wendy.

NEMO urges all members of the public to take the necessary precautions to reduce or minimize risk. These include trimming overhanging branches, clearing drains and waterways to reduce the risk of flooding, and stocking up on water, non-perishable food items, batteries, phone chargers, flashlights, and other essential supplies.

On its end, NEMO continues to strengthen national preparedness by conducting extensive training with volunteers to ensure an eftective and coordinated response should disaster strike.

The public is reminded that the Saint Lucia Meteorological Services is the official source for weather related updates and information while the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) is the official source for disaster related information.
