THE SAINT LUCIA LEG BEGINS ON MARCH 23 AND ENDS ON MARCH 28.

The Saint Lucia Commonwealth Games Association is currently preparing to host the local leg of the King’s Baton Relay.

The King’s Baton Relay was launched at Buckingham Palace by His Majesty King Charles III on Commonwealth Day, 10th March, 2025. The Baton is now on its months-long journey to every corner of the Commonwealth.

The first leg of the King’s Baton Relay will be held in the Caribbean with Trinidad and Tobago being the first country to host the event. Saint Lucia will follow St. Kitts and Nevis. The Saint Lucia leg begins on Sunday, 23rd March and ends on Friday, 28th March, 2025.

This edition of the Baton Relay takes a change from previous ones. Every country was given a baton made from ash wood which they must decorate before the start of the event. Saint Lucia’s baton is being decorated by artist Naja Simeon.

Saint Lucia will start its Baton Relay on Sunday, 23rd March, 2025, with a beach clean-up at Fond d’Or in Dennery. The clean-up will be held in conjunction with the Caribbean Youth Empowerment Network (CYEN). Following the clean-up, the baton will make an appearance at the Finals of this year’s Island Champs which will be held that same day in Soufriere. Later in the week, the baton will visit selected schools and places of interest in Castries.

The King’s Baton Relay is significant as it heralds the commencement of arrangements for the Commonwealth Games, which will be held from 23rd July to 2nd August, 2026, in Glasgow, Scotland.
