The Creative Industries sector congratulates Teddyson John.

Teddyson John was awarded Best Soca/Calypso Song at the 35th International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA) held last Sunday in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Teddyson, known for his amazing vocal ability, is also an accomplished keyboardist and percussionist. “Words can't describe how I feel right now. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone for their continued love and support. Thank you for not giving up on me, thank you for staying with me on my journey. I can't wait for you to hear this new music for 2017,” the “Allez” singer said.

This is the first time a Saint Lucian has been nominated for and won an IRAWMA.

Creative Industries Officer, Imran Emmanuel, said Teddyson's dedication is encouraging.

“Teddyson has been one of our most consistent and dedicated artistes, and we are beyond proud of the latest in his string of achievements. We extend our congratulations to him and his team, and wish him continued success as one of our prominent Cultural Ambassadors.”

Minister for Local Government, Culture and Creative Industries, Sen. Hon. Fortuna Belrose also congratulated Teddyson on his accomplishment.

The Department of Creative Industries has been supportive of the musician’s promotional tours, and also with the production of his annual Carnival event U4ria.

The Ministry for Equity, Social Justice, Empowerment, Youth Development, Sports, Culture and Local Government, having recently participated in the launch of a music strategy for Saint Lucia, looks forward to promoting and sustaining the national music industry.
