THE MEETING OF NATIONAL TRAINING AGENCIES WILL BE HELD FROM MARCH 5 TO 6.

The Saint Lucia Council for Technical, Vocational, and Education Training (SLCTVET) is pleased to announce the hosting of the 34th Meeting of the General Membership of the Caribbean Association of National Training Agencies (CANTA). The event will take place on 5th and 6th of March, 2024, at the Bay Gardens Hotel Conference room in Saint Lucia.

CANTA is an association of National Training Agencies and other TVET apex bodies in CARICOM states established in November 2003. The 14-member organization is endorsed as the implementation arm of the CARICOM Regional Coordinating Mechanism for TVET whose goals is to promote the development of a competitive regional workforce and to facilitate free movement of certified skilled workers within the CSME. Included in CANTA’s objectives is the promotion of uniformed standards driven by competency-based training, assessment and certification within the Caribbean Community and the establishment of a regional certification scheme for the award of the Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) within the context of the Regional Qualification Framework.

CANTA’s General Membership Meetings serve to provide opportunities to develop and strengthen new and existing networks while at the same time deliberate on policies and strategies aimed at enhancing technical vocational education and training (TVET) locally and regionally. This year's meeting promises to bring together policymakers, educators, international partners, and other stakeholders to discuss key challenges, exchange best practices, and explore opportunities for enhancing TVET in the Caribbean. The two-day agenda will feature presentations from the African Union and from The National Institute of Technical Vocational Training (INFOTEP)/Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). In addition to receiving reports from members on activities in their respective territories, members will elect a new executive committee to run the affairs of CANTA for the period 2024 to 2026.
