The Central Statistical Office (CSO) Announcement of the Implementation of Partnership in Statistics for Development in the 21st Century (PARIS21)Recommendations re the Development of the National Strategy for the Development of Statistics (NSDS) of St. Lucia

Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and the Youth Economy in collaboration with the Central Statistical Office (CSO) of Saint Lucia and with support from PARIS21 will be designing, implementing and monitoring the development of a National Strategy for the Development of Statistics (NSDS).

The NSDS will strengthen St. Lucia’s strategic planning processes for statistical development to enable the National Statistical System to better respond to increased demands for data. St. Lucia’s Medium Term Development Strategy (MTDS) and the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda places additional burden on Saint Lucia’s National Statistical Systems (NSS), to compile, produce and disseminate the data and statistics required for monitoring progress and, to inform policy and development choices. In this context, Saint Lucia would need to design a strategic statistical plan to incorporate new data requirements. PARIS21 is a global partnership of national, regional and international statistical experts and policy makers seeking to improve evidence-based decision making in developing countries by promoting better use and production of statistics throughout the developing world.

Core to the implementation of the guidelines of PARIS21 is a programme of activities that support the design, implementations and monitoring of a national strategy for the development of statistics. The CSO solicits the cooperation of all organizations and the general public during the data acquis ion phase of the assessment process (October 2021 to March 2022) as Saint Lucia undertakes efforts to design a National Strategy for the Development of Statistics .
