The Department of Infrastructure is seeking to improve the traffic flow and reduce congestion along the Castries-Gros Islet Highway, for the more than 27,000 average daily commuters.

According to Engineer in the Department of Infrastructure, Nahum Sylvester, various traffic control interventions are being implemented along key parts of the highway.

Currently, a three-month pilot is currently in motion, focusing on minimizing traffic interruptions, by closing the entry into the Windward Island Gases road, preventing vehicles from using the junction as a bypass. The pilot phase focuses on weekday morning peak hours of 7 - 9 a.m.
