THE OBSERVANCE IS A CELEBRATION OF FRENCH AND CREOLE-SPEAKING COUNTRIES AND THE PROMOTION OF FRENCH CULTURE.
Saint Lucia joins the international community in the annual celebration of Journée Internationale de la Francophonie (International Francophonie Day) today, March 20.
Journée Internationale de la Francophonie is a celebration of French and creolespeaking countries around the world, that together share the ideal and desire to promote the French language and culture.
Celebrating La Francophonie is recognizing the potential of language and culture to unite people, to create spaces of solidarity and mutual understanding, and to reflect together on our common future. This year’s theme, “Créer, innover, entreprendre en français” (Create, Innovate, Undertake in French), highlights the many opportunities and the dynamism of the Frenchspeaking world, encouraging creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship as levers for job creation for young people.
In the observance of International Francophonie day, let’s celebrate the diversity of the destinies gathered in the language that we share. The Saint Lucia National Commission for UNESCO wishes all Saint Lucians Bonne Journée Internationale de la Francophonie.
