THE CONTRACTS FORM PART OF A JOINT VENTURE WITH COUNTERPART SAUDI-ARABIAN FIRMS.
On September 13, the Government of Saint Lucia will sign two new contracts with the Saudi Fund for Development to advance the reconstruction and rehabilitation work being undertaken at the St. Jude Hospital.

Following a competitive bidding process, two locally based firms were selected to undertake the final construction phase of the St. Jude Hospital Reconstruction Project. Construction Industrial Equipment Limited won the bid for civil works, and Caribbean Consulting Engineers Limited was awarded the contract for design supervision of the SJH reconstruction project. As stipulated in the agreement between the Government of Saint Lucia and the Saudi Fund for Development, both contracts form part of a joint venture with counterpart firms out of Saudi Arabia.

Transferring patients and hospital operations from the George Odlum Stadium to the new St. Jude Hospital remains a priority for the government. Within 24 months of assuming office in 2021, the prime minister secured $201 million in loan financing from the Saudi Fund for Development for SJH. With the financing in place, finishing the St. Jude Hospital is imminent, and the long-awaited relocation of the hospital to its original home will finally begin.
