THE ACTIVITY INFORMED INTERESTS ABOUT INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE (ICH) FUNDING AND ASSOCIATED CONVENTIONS.
The Saint Lucia National Commission for UNESCO recently engaged key cultural stakeholders including the CDF, FRC, Ministry of Culture,
Ministry of Gender Affairs, Ministry of Education, non-governmental organisations and civil society organisations for a capacity-building workshop.

The activity held at the Conference Room of the Bel Jou Hotel at La Pansee, was organised to create greater awareness of the ICH (2003) convention and of the ICH Fund which provides member states with access to funding for the effective safeguarding of their intangible cultural heritage.

The workshop also discussed the establishment of an ICH committee to begin the process of creating a national inventory and register of Saint Lucia’s ICH.

The UNESCO 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) is the international community’s first binding multilateral instrument intended to safeguard and raise awareness of the importance of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
