CALL FOR PROPOSALS.

The Saint Lucia National Commission for UNESCO is pleased to announce a Call for the submission of Project Proposals under the UNESCO Participation Programme, 2024 - 2025 intake.

The UNESCO Participation Programme provides support (financial/technical) to UNESCO Member States for activities in UNESCO’s fields of competence, Education, Natural Sciences, Social and Human Sciences, Culture and Communication and Information. The programme allows Member States to analyse and evaluate their countries’ needs in relation to UNESCO’s activities and to realise the implementation of development projects, with funding from UNESCO.

UNESCO’s Participation Programme focuses on funding projects which help to create an environment conducive to poverty alleviation. Projects which are broad in scope, including ones aimed at research and policy development, are particularly supported and generally more likely to receive favourable consideration.

THE AWARD The assistance provided by UNESCO, under the Participation Programme, comprises of the services of specialists and consultants, fellowships and study grants, publications and SAINT LUCIA NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR UNESCO Ministry of Education, Sustainable Development, Innovation, Science, Technology and Vocational Training documentation, equipment (other than vehicles), conferences and meetings, seminars and training courses, and financial contributions. The total value of the assistance shall not be in excess of USD$26,000 for a national project, USD$35,000 for a sub-regional or an interregional project, and USD$46,000 for regional projects. The financial provisions made by the applicant must be sufficient to implement the activity satisfactorily.

All requests shall be submitted (on behalf of institutions or organisations) by the Member State though its National Commission. The UNESCO Participation Programme aims to build the capacities of its Member States, with a view to ensuring that projects financed within the framework of the Participation Programme have tangible and lasting effects. It is highly desirable that the projects granted funding be supported and sustained by Member States.

Project proposals should reach the Saint Lucia National Commission for UNESCO, via email, at slunatcom@yahoo.com on or before 12 noon on Friday, February 16, 2024. Projects that are not in keeping with UNESCO’s Strategic Priorities will not be considered for submission.
