UNICEF’S NEW REPRESENTATIVE FOR THE EASTERN CARIBBEAN EXPRESSES HIS INTENTIONS FOR THE EDUCATION FIELD.

Mr. Pieter Bult, UNICEF representative for the Eastern Caribbean, presented his credentials to the Permanent Secretary within the Ministry of External Affairs, Mr. Augustus Cadette, on Thursday, Aug. 18. Whilst doing so he discussed his plans for the youth as it relates to education.

“My intention in the next few years is to continue to closely collaborate and build on what we have already done. We would like to continue to see if there’s things to further improve and to be able to have a greater welcoming of technology which we should capitalize on. We’ve just signed a new multi-country program—our executive board has just approved it—so for the next five years we are very clear in terms of our commitments and our priorities which will continue to be in strengthening social protection systems, to reach the most vulnerable, and investing in services.”

Mr. Bult went on to state that the areas within education to be focused on included technologies and the strengthening of ties between schools and communities.
