WORLD BANK REPRESENTATIVES AND SLC-HBS PROJECT ENUMERATORS VISIT THE COMMUNITY OF MARISULE.

The Government of Saint Lucia, through the Central Statistical Office (CSO), officially advises the public that household visits for the 2025 Survey of Living Conditions and Household Budget Survey (SLC-HBS) are now underway across the island.

Following the successful launch of the survey on March 18, 2025, at the Finance Administrative Centre, enumerators have begun visiting selected households to collect vital information that will help shape national development policies, improve social programs, and support poverty reduction efforts.

The SLC-HBS is a critical national initiative that seeks to identify and analyze poverty levels, update the Consumer Price Index (CPI), and gather essential data on household spending, education, health, nutrition, housing, and demographics. The survey will run for twelve (12) months, from April 2025 to March 2026.

Enumerators, trained by the CSO, and properly identified with official identification cards will conduct interviews and collect supporting documents including shopping receipts to better understand household expenditure patterns.

The CSO reassures the public that all responses are treated with strict confidentiality in accordance with the Statistics Act and are used solely for statistical purposes. No personal or identifying information will be published with the survey results.

The participation of households is crucial to building a comprehensive, accurate picture of living conditions as part of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Data for Decision Making (DDM) Project for Saint Lucia.

The project is a five-year initiative aimed at enhancing the capacity of Eastern Caribbean countries—specifically Grenada, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines—to produce and disseminate high-quality, timely, and reliable statistical data. This data is crucial for informing evidence-based policy decisions that support sustainable development across the region.
