Taiwanese Youth Ambassadors discussed humanitarian aid with social assistance organizations during a visit to Saint Lucia.

A sixteen-member delegation from the Youth Ambassadors Program of the Republic of China (Taiwan) recently concluded a cultural exchange visit to Saint Lucia.

The visit provided an avenue for Taiwanese youth to display their culture as well as learn about other traditions.

“It is important that the young generation not only study in Taiwan, but have a global view, so when we travel to other countries including Saint Lucia, we experience something different from Taiwan and learn something," said Youth Ambassador Wen-Ting Alisa Ling.

The theme for this year’s program is: “Youth from Taiwan: Compassion for all,” which aims to  demonstrate Taiwan’s ethos and value system.

“We are a humanitarian aid provider. So we want to use this theme as the topic for us to come over here. We actually visited the transition home. We did the mask and some therapy with the kids and we also visited the Crisis Centre and met with the people there. We talked about issues like domestic violence and how the crisis centre deals with this problem.”

The team also showcased their talent at a cultural performance dubbed: “Energetic New Taiwan” and participated in a television discussion on the National Television Network (NTN).

Taiwan's Youth Ambassadors Program was established in 2009. The program is aimed at the development of Taiwanese youth.
