The Organization of American States (OAS), through the Department of Human Development, Education and Employment (DHDEE), and the Government of the Republic of China, through the Ministry of Education of China (MOE) are offering scholarships at the undergraduate and graduate level, at Chinese universities accepting international students, through the OAS Partnerships Program for Education and Training (PAEC) and the Higher Education Institutions in the People’s Republic of China.

Scholarship Overview

Registration Tuition* and Books, and Study materials; Accommodation; Subsistence; Medical Insurance; and Local Transportation

 

*The tuition fee of some special programs, including, but not limited to, a Master’s Degree in Public Administration, might exceed the maximum coverage of the scholarship (30,000 RMB/year). It’s highly recommended that the scholarship applicants confirm with the university and make sure that the tuition fee is not excessive or the self-supporting charges are affordable.

Responsibility of students

 

The scholarship recipient will be responsible for covering:

  1. Some of the learning materials (estimated at US$500.00);
  2. Roundtrip air tickets, to and from the People’s Republic of China; and
  3. Student visa fees (varies per country).

 

Please note that scholarship recipients might be charged some set-up fees upon arrival in the People’s Republic of China (i.e. student ID card, internet, rent deposit, residence permit, bank account etc). It is recommended that scholarship recipients bring between  US$500.00  and US$800.00 to cover those settlement expenses while awaiting the first scholarship disbursement from the China Scholarship Council.

Candidates should note that the duration of the scholarship is specified at the time of admission and CANNOT be extended in principle.

 

Eligibility requirements

  1. General Provisions:

       1. Applicants must:

  •      Be Non-Chinese citizens;
  •      Be citizens or permanent residents of an OAS Member State;
  • Be in good physical and mental health to successfully undertake and finish the programme of study;
  • Return to their sponsoring country and reside there for at least two (2) years upon completion of the programme of study in the People’s Republic of China.

 

        2. Education background and age limit:

  • Applicants for undergraduate programmes must have a senior high school diploma with good academic performance and under the age of 25;
  •      Applicants for master’s degree programmes must have a bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35;
  •  Applicants for doctoral degree programmes must have a master’s degree and be under the age of 40;
  • General scholar candidates must have completed at least two (2) years of undergraduate studies and be under the age of 45. and may study all majors except the Chinese language;
  • Senior scholar candidates must have a master’s degree or above, or hold academic titles of associate professor or above, and be under the age of 50.

  1.  Applicants shall apply through the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (online application) by  February 25, 2020. The online application form must be completed in Chinese or in English.
