JICA ONLINE KNOWLEDGE CO-CREATION PROGRAMME (KCCP)

Promoting Digital Transformation for Solving Social Challenges

(The Challenges toward Japanese Society 2.0)

The Ministry of Education, Sustainable Development, Innovation, Science, Technology and Vocational Training informs of the upcoming JICA KCCP for “Promoting Digital Transformation for Solving Social Challenges – The Changes towards Japanese Society 5.0” organized by the Government of Japan through JICA from December 5-15, 2022.

The KCCP shall be implemented as part of the Official Development Assistance of the Government of Japan based on bilateral agreement between both Governments.  The modality of the programme is online in English.

The programme aims to provide hints and clues to participants to resolve the social issues of their countries through utilization of digital technologies by understanding the concepts of “Society 5.0” and learning Japan’s latest activities.  It targets the executives in government organizations and related agencies such as higher education institutions who supervise Digital Economy and Information and Communications Technologies.

The KCCP provides participants with the knowledge of Japan’s initiatives of Digital Information and Innovation using the latest digital technologies and elemental technologies including the topics listed below through lectures and discussions.

  • Digital Transformation
  • Internet of Things (IoT)
  • Big Data Analysis
  • Cyber Security
  • Digital Government
  • Smart City
  • Home/Remote Medical Care
  • UAV/Robotics

Output and Contents:

  1. To share the status of digital transformation in each country and identify the issues to be solved.
  2. To deepen understanding on relevant public policies and cases of digital transformation in Japan.
  3. To consider the application knowledge and technique for solving issues of participating countries’ digital transformation

Eligibility and Procedures

1.   Expectations to the Applying Organizations:

(1) This Programme is designed primarily for organizations that intend to address specific issues or problems identified in their operation. Applying organizations are expected to use the programme for those specific purposes.

(2) This KCCP is enriched with contents and facilitation schemes specially developed in collaboration with relevant prominent organizations in Japan. These special features enable the KCCP to meet specific requirements of applying organizations and effectively facilitate them toward solutions for the issues and problems.

(3) As this KCCP is designed to facilitate organizations to come up with concrete solutions for their issues, participating organizations are expected to ensure enough time for the participants to carry out the activities of the Preparatory Phase.

2.   Nominee Qualifications:

Applying Organizations are expected to select nominees who meet the following qualifications.

1) Executives at government agencies responsible for the digital economy and ICT development

2) More than 5 years of working experience in the field of digital economy and ICT development

3) Be university graduates or equivalent, preferably in the field related to ICTs.

4) Be proficient in spoken and written English (Please attach an official certificate of English ability such as TOEFL, TOEIC etc., if possible)

5) Technical Requirements for the Online Programme (Computer) Technology Proficiency:

-Basic computer skills such as, sending/receiving email with attachments, and using a web browser.

-This course is delivered using the following services:JICA-VAN, Web Conferences (Zoom), and YouTube.

(Online tutorial and support by JICA will be limited. The ability to be self -directed in learning new technology skills are required.)

 

Equipment and Internet Connection Requirement:

 -   Regular access to a computer, either from your home or from your office.

-  Operating System: Windows or Mac OS (Updated version is preferred).

-  High Speed Broadband Connection (at least 2Mbps).: Google Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari can be used.

-  Webcam Microphone, and Audio output Device (Speaker or Headset)

Note】If it is not able to arrange appropriate Internet connection or necessary devices, please consult with JICA overseas office.

Please note that participation in all programmes is an essential requirement for the completion of the course.  JICA is promoting gender equality. Women are encouraged to apply for the Programme.

 

3.   Required Documents for Application

 Questionnaire indicated in the Annex 1.

4.   Additional Document to Be Submitted by Accepted Candidates:

Country Report -- to be submitted by Monday, November 14, 2022:

Accepted Participants are required to prepare a Country Report in MS Power Point or equivalent visual material (detailed information is provided at the time of notice of acceptance.), which will be presented at the beginning of the Programme.

5.   Conditions for Attendance:

The participants of KCCP are required:

  • to strictly observe the course schedule,
  • not to change the programme topics,
  • to observe the rules and regulations of the programme implementing partners to provide the programme or establishments,
  • to participate in the whole programme including programme orientation,
  • to respect copyright and portrait rights, and
  • to refrain from recording and sharing the video material, audio material, text, images, graphics and other contents available during the programme except for cases with specific permission.

Application forms must be submitted to the Human Resource Development (HRD) Unit of the Ministry of Education, Sustainable Development, Innovation, Science, Technology and Vocational Training, 4th Floor, Francis Compton Building, Waterfront, Castries.

 

The deadline for receipt of applications is no later than 4:00 p.m. on September 9, 2022.

 

The JICA overseas office (or the Embassy of Japan) will notify the results no later than Monday, October 24, 2022.
