The Department of Education, Innovation and Gender Relations informs of the call for applications from desirous persons of pursuing an online Undergraduate Certificate in Early Childhood Education with the University of The West Indies Open Campus. 

Scholarship Overview

PROGRAM

Undergraduate Certificate
Early Childhood Development and Family Studies

Open to students who are admitted to the certificate program beginning Semester (1) in the 2021/2022 academic year. Students admitted to the first year of the Bachelor's in Education degree program may also be considered should scholarship offers become available

MODALITY Online, The UWI Open Campus Platform, with in-country face to face practical component

OAS Scholarship Application Deadline: July 30, 2021

Semester Begins August 29, 2021

BENEFIT
  1. Full tuition scholarship offers to citizens of OAS English speaking Caribbean Member States, except for Math and/or English prerequisites.
  2. Access to the Inter American Teacher Education Network (ITEN)‒UWI STRAM Virtual Community (VC) of Practice, for which an additional certificate will be provided upon completion.


Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for this scholarship opportunity, an applicant must:

  • Have a firm or provisional admission letter from The University of the West Indies, Open Campus;
  • Submit a complete scholarship application with all required supporting documents; and
  • Be a citizen and/or permanent legal resident of Saint Lucia.

The following applicants are ineligible:

  • Current OAS scholarship recipients;
  • OAS General Secretary, (GS/OAS) staff and their immediate relatives or GS/OAS consultants; and
  • OAS Permanent officials and their immediate relatives.

Expenses not covered by the scholarship

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY OF SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS The Scholarship Recipient is responsible for any and all additional costs, including, but not limited to:
1. Tuition cost to complete prerequisite courses, if required,
2. Remaining University fees, including
    a) ID Card: $5.00
    b) Guild Fees: $ 20.00
    c) Technology Fee (per semester):
         i) 1 course: $20.00
         ii) 2 courses: $35.00
     d) Application fees; and
      e) Books and study materials.
3. Any additional costs not included in the OAS‒ The UWI Open Campus Scholarship.
 


Selection of Awardees

The UWI Open Campus and the OAS will select the scholarship awardees and their names will be published in August 2021 at www.oas.org/scholarhsips. The OAS will contact selected candidates by email with the scholarship offer and instructions for the scholarship acceptance.  Please note that unsuccessful applicants will not be contacted.
