THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF CUBA SAINT LUCIA BI-LATERAL 

SCHOLARSHIPS – 2023/2024

The Government of the Republic of Cuba is offering scholarships to eligible Saint Lucian Nationals to pursue studies at the Bachelor’s and Postgraduate levels, tenable at Universities in the Republic of Cuba for the academic year commencing February 2024. 

1. UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES

Students who have not completed both Units 1 and II of CAPE or Associate Degree level studies in the required subject areas are not eligible for this award

UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES IN MEDICINE

To be eligible for selection for the undergraduate studies in medicine, applicants must:

1. be a citizen of Saint Lucia of less than 25 years;
2. be a new student entering year one;
3. be in good physical and mental health;
4. be in possession of a valid Certificate of Character;
5. have a minimum of two passes at A’ Level examinations or equivalent in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and/or Mathematics; OR possess passes in units one and two of the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) with passes at Grade I, II or III in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and/or Mathematics; OR an Associate Degree in a science area; and a minimum of five (5) passes at CXC General level [Grade I, II and III General only] including Mathematics and English and subjects relevant to the area of study;
6. be from a low income family/household (Financial Needs Form must be completed).

2. UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES IN NURSING

To be eligible for selection for the undergraduate studies in Nursing, applicants must:

1. be a citizen of Saint Lucia of less than 25 years;
2. be a new student entering year one;
3. be in good physical and mental health;
4. be in possession of a valid Certificate of Character;
5. have a minimum of two passes at A’ Level examinations or equivalent in Biology, Chemistry; OR possess passes in units one and two of the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) with passes at Grade I, II or III in Biology, Chemistry; OR possess an Associate Degree in Nursing; OR an Associate Degree in a science area; and a minimum of five passes at CXC General level [Grade I, II and III General only] including Mathematics and English and subjects relevant to your desired area of study; and

(f)          be from a low income family/household (Financial Needs Form must be completed).

3. UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES :

1.   Higher Education:  Agricultural Engineering

2.  Health Technology: Radiology Technician

                                                  : Histopathology Laboratory Technician

To be eligible for selection for undergraduate studies in the above areas, applicants must:

1. be a citizen of Saint Lucia of less than 25 years;
2. be in good physical and mental health;
3. be in possession of a valid Certificate of Character;
4. possess passes at A’ Level examinations OR possess passes in units one and two of the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE); OR an Associate Degree/a Diploma from Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC) in the related area;  and a minimum of five (5) CXC passes at [Grade I, II and III General only] including Mathematics and English in the subjects relevant to your desired area of study; and
5. be from a low income family/household (Financial Needs Form must be completed).

4. POSTGRADUATE STUDIES IN MEDICINE

To be eligible for selection for Post Graduate Medicine studies, applicants must:

1. be a graduate of the Latin American School of Medicine in Cuba
2. be in good physical and mental health;
3. be in possession of a valid Certificate of Character;

There is no age limit for post-graduate studies

1. SCAN all required documents (Ensure that all documents are legible).
2. Complete the Online Application, and upload the required documents to your online application.
3. After submitting the online application, you will receive a confirmation email.

1. Verified copies of Academic, Professional and Technical Certificates (Verified by the Ministry of Education)
2. Official Transcripts from SALCC and Secondary School of completed programmes forwarded from the institution directly to:

Technology and Vocational Training

3. Copy of Birth Certificate
4. Physical Examination Certificate produced three (3) months or less 
5. Two Letters of Recommendation
6. Cover Minute from Permanent Secretary/Head of Department, endorsing the request for Training (For Public Service Employees only)
