Location: Castries, Saint Lucia

 

ABOUT GITS

Government Information Technology Services Limited (GITS) is a government-owned IT company that provides centralized IT services to the Government of Saint Lucia. These services include data center operations, CloudSuite FMIS support, systems and network administration, software development, and technical consultancy to ministries and departments across the public service. As GITS transitions to supporting modern cloudbased platforms and more advanced cybersecurity postures, strong and visionary leadership is essential.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The General Manager serves as the chief executive officer of GITS and is responsible for the strategic, operational, and financial management of the organization. The successful candidate will ensure that GITS effectively delivers on its service commitments and supports government-wide digital transformation initiatives.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction in the planning and execution of GITS’ operations, projects, and initiatives.
  • Oversee the administration of the government-wide IT service agreement.
  • Manage and guide department heads across technical and operational units.
  • Lead the implementation of major IT projects including data center modernization, FMIS upgrades, and cloud-based services.
  • Liaise with government ministries and external vendors to align services with national ICT objectives.
  • Ensure business continuity through robust security, backup, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Oversee budgeting, financial management, and reporting.
  • Provide timely reports and advice to the Board of Directors.
  • Promote professional development and a culture of accountability and service excellence.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, Management, or related field OR equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in ICT, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Experience managing enterprise ICT environments including data centers, networks, cybersecurity, and business systems.
  • Proven ability to lead complex ICT projects or digital transformation initiatives.

 

Desirable:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Professional certifications (PMP, ITIL, CISSP, CISM, cloud certifications, etc.).
  • Knowledge of public sector governance, procurement, and budgeting.
  • Experience managing contracts and vendor relationships.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT

  • Initial contract period of two (2) years, renewable based on performance.
  • Competitive compensation package commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • Six (6) month probationary period.
