HIGH COMMISSIONER PROVIDES INSIGHT INTO THE ACHIEVEMENTS ATTAINED THROUGH PARTNERSHIP WITH SAINT LUCIA.

The British High Commission’s solid commitment to collaboration with Saint Lucia, was underscored at a recently-held press conference that highlighted the significance of mutual support and shared goals.

Discussions centered on socio-economic growth and cultural enrichment in Saint Lucia, capitalizing on the strengths and resources of both nations.

Resident British Commissioner in Saint Lucia, Lesley Saunderson, said: “We work with the government, civil society, and the private sector to understand Saint Lucia’s needs but you don’t usually hear about it. High Commissioner to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, and also the UK's representative to the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States, Scott Furssedonn-Wood is visiting Saint Lucia. So we held a three-day program to assess our partnership areas working with the government and civil society.”

Mr. Scott Furssedonn-Wood expressed deep satisfaction with the progress made in the relationship between the UK and Saint Lucia. Highlighting the joint efforts, the High Commissioner specifically noted key investments made in infrastructure and youth development as flagship contributions to the bilateral collaboration.

“This week has been an opportunity to review progress and to consider future collaborations on things that matter to the government and the people of Saint Lucia. There's a lot that we can be proud of. In recent years the UK has been the biggest bilateral donor to Saint Lucia in terms of in terms of grant funding. Our development program here in recent years has been worth EC$150 million and we have been doing a range of things across the country which really respond to the priorities that we've identified in Saint Lucia.”

As discussions and plans progress, the UK High Commission and Saint Lucia continue to pave the way for a multifaceted and robust partnership, fostering growth and shared prosperity.
