The series aims to strengthen public understanding and national buy-in for climate adaptation
Resilient Saint Lucia: Celebrating the Work, Charting the Future is a five-part television series produced by the Department of Sustainable Development (DSD) highlighting how Saint Lucia is building climate resilience in practical, people-centred ways. The series aims to strengthen public understanding and national buy-in for climate adaptation by celebrating real projects, real partnerships, and the individuals driving implementation across the island. Rather than focusing on climate challenges alone, Resilient Saint Lucia spotlights solutions in action - from rainwater harvesting and climate-smart tourism to resilient housing, food security innovation, and climate finance that supports women and community-led livelihoods.
Developed under NAP GCF Readiness Project through the DSD, Resilient Saint Lucia brings the country’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) to life through compelling storytelling that translates policy into visible action. Across five ten-minute episodes, the series celebrates progress already underway while charting a clear path toward a more climate-resilient future.
Resilient Saint Lucia premieres on Helen Television System (HTS) on Wednesday, February 18, 2025, at 8:00 p.m., with subsequent airings on Calabash TV on Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. The broadcast is proudly sponsored by Republic Bank (EC) Limited.
Chief Sustainable and Environment Officer, Dawn Pierre-Nothaniel, emphasized the importance of collective action, noting: “Building climate resilience is everybody’s business. Awareness creates buy-in, empowers people to act proactively, and strengthens coordination across sectors, groups, and agencies. Climate action is already happening across Saint Lucia, as people respond to more intense heat, droughts, flooding, and storms — even if they do not always call it responding to climate change. Resilient Saint Lucia reinforces that climate resilience is not a distant goal, but a collective effort already taking shape across communities.”
As Saint Lucia continues to advance its National Adaptation Plan, the TV Series invites viewers to recognise the progress made, understand the work ahead, and share responsibility for building a stronger, more resilient future for generations to come.
