THE MEETING PROVIDED AN OPPORTUNITY TO EXPLORE OPPORTUNITIES FOR COLLABORATION.
The Director of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Caribbean Office, Mr. Joni Musabayana paid a courtesy call on Saint Lucia’s Minister for Labour, Hon. Dr. Virginia Albert Poyotte, during his recent mission to the Island-November 19-20. The meeting provided an opportunity to advance dialogue on strengthening collaboration between the Department of Labour in Saint Lucia and the ILO Caribbean Office.
As part of the delegation, the ILO’s Specialist for Social Protection and Occupational Safety and Health met with the Senior Occupational Safety and Health Officer and Labour Commissioner from the Department of Labour. Their discussions focused on addressing occupational safety and health concerns and identifying collaborative strategies to mitigate prevailing issues.
Additionally, the ILO’s Specialist for Employment and Labour Market Policies engaged with the Employment Officers to explore opportunities for employment, review employment policies, and discuss a Labour Market Information System (LMIS), which will enhance the collection and analysis of labour market statistics, providing valuable data to inform policy decisions.
The Department of Labour values the contributions of the ILO and other agencies as it actively seeks collaborative opportunities to enhance Saint Lucia’s industrial climate.
