Williams served during one of the most historic periods in Saint Lucia's political history
Former Governor General of Saint Lucia, Boswell Williams (born 1926) passed away on July 20th, 2014, after family members say he complained of unspecified illness.
Williams first served as Acting Governor General from June 19th, 1980 to December 16th, 1981. He was later appointed Saint Lucia's Governor General and served in the position until his resignation on December 13th, 1982, overseeing the historic rejection of then Prime Minister Allan Louisy's budget proposal.
Williams lived quietly in his Sans Souci home, taking leisurely walks in the neighborhood while in better health. He represented the Vieux Fort district in Saint Lucia's legislature from 1974 to 1979.
Williams is survived by his wife Joycelyn - a former teacher and eight children.
