Visitors and locals alike have a new choice for travel as Saint Lucia welcomes a new direct flight from Manchester airport on charter airline, Thomas Cook.
Saint Lucia’s airlift received a boost as Thomas Cook started providing weekly Sunday flights to the island from November 10, 2013. The new flight has a capacity of 325 seats and operates on a specifically configured Airbus A330 aircraft.

Chairman of the Saint Lucia Tourist Board Airlift Committee, Thaddeus Antoine, speaking at theceremony marking the inaugural flight , lauded the airline for this new addition to its routes.

He said, “The news of this new direct weekly flight comes as a welcomed boost to us. I can’t over emphasize that such a flight opens up our destination to holiday makers outside of London and the south-east through the winter season and beyond. As well as new markets in Europe, particularly Germany, which we would like to continue to explore for growth.”

Flights are scheduled to leave Manchester at 7:00GMT and arrive in Saint Lucia at 3:00PM local time. Travelers will benefit from a wide range of regional airports across the United Kingdom.

Thomas Cook Aviation Director James Burrows pledged the airlines support for St Lucia. He said, “The great news is we will continue to support Saint Lucia. Today does mark part of our turn around and transformation process we’ve been going through. It is brilliant that we got a brand new aircraft into our fleet last week coming to Saint Lucia. And it really is a fantastic time in our Thomas Cook history.”

The airline will soon introduce two brands of Thomas Cook to the island, namely Tropical Shores and Airtours.
