Saint Lucia has launched an advertising campaign to attract large numbers of visitors from the Caribbean region to the August 15 event.

The Saint Lucia Tourist Board (SLTB) and the Ministry of Tourism have collaborated with Mercury Beach to host the 2nd Mercury Beach Party at Pigeon Island.

The Mercury Beach Party supports the Saint Lucia Tourist Board’s strategy of deepening penetration into the lucrative Caribbean market. The event targets the Caribbean region with Martinique and Guadeloupe as its primary markets.

Inaugurated in August 2014, the Mercury Beach Party was hailed a major success having attracted over 4000 visitors and 325 vessels from Martinique and Guadeloupe in its inaugural year. These numbers delivered an economic boost for the island, and specifically to restaurants, stores, tours and attractions, taxis and hotels which recorded a direct injection of business from the visitors over the course of their three-day stay on island.

This year, the SLTB anticipates that the event will attract an increasing number of visitors from across the region. To this end, an electronic media advertising campaign has been in effect in Barbados, Saint Vincent and Trinidad, and online for the rest of the region.

Organizers hope to double last year’s Caribbean arrivals into Saint Lucia. The Mercury Beach Party will be held on August 15.
