The Ambassador made his first official public appearance since taking up duty on Sep. 30.
Newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to Saint Lucia, H.E. Raymond Mou, last week presented two cheques to the Government of Saint Lucia.
The first cheque will further fund the Constituency Development Program, while the other will be used to replace the House of Parliament’s conference system which was damaged during Hurricane Tomas.
The cheques were EC$9.8 million and EC$54,000, respectively.
“Since 2012, 480 constituency development programs and projects have benefitted communities around Saint Lucia, and created nearly 6000 opportunities for employment," Ambassador Mou said. "We firmly believe that more and more people will benefit as a result of the meaningful co-operation programs between our two governments.”
The cheque presentation was the Ambassador’s first official public appearance since taking up duty on Sep. 30.
Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony took the opportunity to welcome the new ambassador to Saint Lucia.
“I am pleased that you have wasted no time in taking up right where your predecessor, former Ambassador Chang, left. Ambassador Chang earned our respect, admiration and affection. He handled our affairs with honour, dignity and character. So you do have very big shoes to fill. Your presence here today at this cheque presentation is a welcome start to your duties."
In the spirit of transparency, the Prime Minister urged members of parliament to invite Ambassador Mou to their respective constituencies to view the accomplishments of each project.
