Productivity Awareness Week starts today

The week's activities include a productivity initiative showcase aired on HTS and a young entrepreneur business mixer at the Blue Coral Mall.

The National Competitiveness and Productivity Council (NCPC) in collaboration with the Government of Saint Lucia, this week hosts the second annual productivity Awareness Week (Oct. 12 - 16).

The initiative forms part of the government’s overall thrust to promote the awareness of productivity and to showcase initiatives that are being undertaken by both the private and public sectors geared towards the promotion of productivity.

The week will host a range of activities with expected participation from the private and public sectors, civil society and the youth. Each chosen activity holds its own appeal making it an attractive option for the respective audiences.

The activities for the week center on the following objectives: to build awareness and provide training and mentorship in matters relating to productivity; to provide tools to entrepreneurs that will allow them to enhance productivity  and competitiveness in the current economic environment; and to inculcate a mindset change as it pertains to productivity.

The week of events include a primary schools productivity fair at the Vigie Sports Complex; a productivity session with the Mini Bus Associations at Union Orchid Garden; a productivity initiative showcase aired on HTS; a competitiveness enrichment seminar at the ICT centre, Bourbon Street, Castries; a public service productivity initiative showcase on Choice TV; and a young entrepreneur business mixer at the Blue Coral Mall.

Previous activities included a secondary school productivity tour that sensitizing students on productivity issues; and the Search for Competitiveness that highlighted the successes of and provided motivation for other up and coming young business persons.
