MORE THAN 11,000 PUBLIC SECTOR WORKERS WILL RECEIVE A 13 PERCENT TOTAL INCREASE OVER A SIX-YEAR PERIOD.
After amicable negotiations with the Government Negotiating Team (GNT) concluded last December, seven (7) public sector Unions/Staff Associations secured the largest-ever salary increases for more than 11,000 public sector workers - 13% over two trienniums (2022 - 2025 and 2025 - 2028).
Furthermore, the latest Collective Agreements between the GNT and Unions/Staff Associations include several new benefits for public sector workers:
- Temporary teachers will get paid in August.

Teachers will be paid for marking Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) School-Based Assessments and marking and submitting CXC SBAs.

Maternity leave can be extended by an additional month.

The government will subsidise the cost of continuing education programmes for medical professionals, including pharmacists.

Registered nurse practitioners will get diagnostic equipment from the government at no cost.
This historic agreement reflects the government's commitment to enhancing the welfare of workers.
