MORE THAN 11,000 PUBLIC SECTOR WORKERS WILL RECEIVE A 13 PERCENT TOTAL INCREASE OVER A SIX-YEAR PERIOD.
After amicable negotiations with the Government Negotiating Team (GNT) concluded last December, seven (7) public sector Unions/Staff Associations secured the largest-ever salary increases for more than 11,000 public sector workers - 13% over two trienniums (2022 - 2025 and 2025 - 2028).
Furthermore, the latest Collective Agreements between the GNT and Unions/Staff Associations include several new benefits for public sector workers:
  • Temporary teachers will get paid in August.
  • Teachers will be paid for marking Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) School-Based Assessments and marking and submitting CXC SBAs.
  • Maternity leave can be extended by an additional month.
  • The government will subsidise the cost of continuing education programmes for medical professionals, including pharmacists.
  • Registered nurse practitioners will get diagnostic equipment from the government at no cost.
This historic agreement reflects the government's commitment to enhancing the welfare of workers.
