THE WORKSHOPS WILL EQUIP SMALL AND MEDIUM BUSINESSES WITH THE TOOLS NECESSARY FOR IMPROVED EMERGENCY RESPONSE PREPAREDNESS.
The Department of Tourism, Information and Broadcasting will host a two-day workshop on Multi-Hazard Contingency Planning for tourism sector stakeholders.
The purpose of the training workshop is to equip small and medium businesses with the tools that are necessary for improved emergency response preparedness.
This is one of the many activities undertaken by the department to build capacity in risk management and continue enhancing the quality of the island’s tourism product. Approximately 30 participants will receive training in Multi-Hazard Contingency Planning and Business Continuity Planning. Subject areas include Introduction to the Structure of Disaster Management in Saint Lucia (Business Continuity and Multi-Hazard Contingency Planning for the National Tourism Sector); Introduction to Business Continuity Planning and Management; Fire Response and Preparedness; and How to Safeguard Your Property During Disasters. Participants will be expected to develop or update their own business continuity plans which will be reviewed and endorsed by NEMO, and endorsed for enlistment on the Saint Lucia Tourist Board website, www.stlucia.org.
The workshops will take place at the NEMO Headquarters on Sep. 28 – 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The training is the collaborative effort of the Department of Tourism, its industry partners, and the National Emergency Management Office (NEMO).
