Attendees are to develop a comprehensive action plan for regional cyber security.
Saint Lucia is the host country for ICT Week 2016, held from March 14 - 18.
The event will be held at the Bay Gardens Hotel and is expected to attract approximately 100 visitors from all over the world, including heads of regional and international organizations, government ministers, police commissioners, attorneys general, directors of public prosecution, and ICT personnel.
The week’s main activities include a Caribbean Stakeholders Meeting II (CSMII) and the 32nd Executive Council of the Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU).
At the CSMII stakeholders will discuss cyber security and cybercrime. The principal objectives of that meeting are to agree upon a regional approach to cyber security; to develop a comprehensive regional action plan; to obtain ministerial support for and commitment to the action plan; and to identify financing options.
It is expected, by the end of the meeting, that delegates will devise a clear action plan to garner commitment from international organizations, donor countries and development agencies to support the implementation of these plans.
There will also be a workshop on ICT for persons with disabilities (specifically the blind and deaf) on March 16.
ICT Week is a collaboration between the Government of Saint Lucia and the Caribbean Telecommunications Union.
