Energy Minister, Hon. James Fletcher, accompanied by Ambassador Eustace Vitalis, the country's Ambassador to PETROCARIBE and ALBA, represented Saint Lucia at the 13th Meeting of the PETROCARIBE Ministerial Council in San Salvador, El Salvador on Monday 2nd June, 2014.

This historic meeting, which was addressed by the President of El Salvador, Mr Salvador Sanchez Ceren, officially approved the incorporation of El Salvador into the PETROCARIBE Cooperation Agreement.

The one-day meeting, which was hosted jointly by the Government of El Salvador and PETROCARIBE, discussed a number of issues, including the finalization of the funding for the ambitious Plan for the Eradication of Hunger and Extreme Poverty of PETROCARIBE, a proposal for the development of an Energy Balance for the PETROCARIBE zone, and a review of a presentation on a socioeconomic programme for the PETROCARIBE Economic Zone.
