An initiative to educate students, island wide, on healthy lifestyle and environmental issues continued Wednesday, at the Dennery Riviere Combined and the Clendon Mason Secondary schools.

The initiative is organized by PCI Media Impact in collaboration with the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Energy, Science and Technology; the Fisheries Division - Department of Forestry; the St. Lucia National Trust and the Solid Waste Management Authority.

The schools were also visited by representatives from the USA, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Vincent, Saint Kitts, Antigua and Saint Lucia who are attending a week-long workshop organized by PCI Media Impact on "Communications for Conservation."

Representatives of the different ministries and organizations educated the students on the ways in which their actions can damage the natural environment and its inhabitants. The students were provided with information on how to address environmental problems such as climate change, invasive species, pollution and genetically modified foods, and received prizes for providing correct answers to questions following the different presentations.

The students were also entertained with mascots, and performances by J Mouse and Ambi who also took video footage of the students for their upcoming new song.

The educational drive will continue in the upcoming months to ensure that all students are knowledgeable and can play an active role in protecting his or her environment.
