Sixteen year-old Qiana Joseph has been selected to the West Indies Women’s Cricket team to participate in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Women’s World Cup.

Qiana is one of four new caps selected for the Women’s World Cup. In recent years, she has attracted the attention of regional cricket selectors with the quality of her left arm seam bowling, powerful hitting, and good all round skills in the field.

Awarded the Junior Female Cricketer of the Year in 2014 and 2015, Qiana has demonstrated an interest in cricket since she was nine years old. At the time she was part of the northern cluster of the Grass Roots Cricket Program while at the Grande Riviere Primary School, and also participated in the After School Cricket Enhancement Program by the Department of Youth Development and Sports.

She made her senior team debut at the age of 13, and has so far produced a top score of 94. Her debut in the West Indies Cricket Board Regional Cricket Tournament came at the age of 14.

Qiana will be leaving the island on May 26 to join the team of players selected for a training camp in Barbados prior to the World Cup. The International Cricket Council (ICC) Women’s World Cup is scheduled for June 24 to July 23, in England.
